Over the past seven or eight years many Lac des Ilers have pointedly expressed to me the wish that someone would write a short history of our Lac Community.

As I sit at our home and look out at the lake I marvel at how little the view has changed in the almost 70 years I have gazed at it. I know and love the contours of all the hills and islands and the shoreline looks just about as it did when I first saw it in 1903. I want to issue thanks to the Committee for the great success that
they have had in this 1984 Reunion. When Dave McEntyre and a couple of others
dreamed about it two summers ago, I had some doubts as to whether they would be
able to pull it off but it has come off in a beautiful way and the whole Committee deserves to be congratulated very very heartily for doing it.
